About EJCW
The Environmental Justice Coalition for Water (EJCW) is a statewide coalition of grassroots groups and intermediary organizations building a collective, community-based movement for democratic water allocation, management, and policy in California. EJCW empowers the most under-served communities, including those of low-income and communities of color throughout California to advocate for clean, safe, and affordable water.
Mission & Vision
Mission: Our mission is to educate, empower, and nurture a community-based coalition that serves as a public voice and an effective advocate for environmental justice issues in California water policy.
Vision: We envision all communities throughout California having access to safe and affordable water, clean rivers, streams, and bays for personal, cultural, ceremonial, and recreational uses.
Approach
EJCW plays a critical bridge-building role in connecting grassroots communities and statewide policy advocates across California. We are building a broad movement for water justice by tackling structural inequity in how California’s water resources are managed. Our goals are to:
Communicate. We coordinate a statewide message on the importance of identifying and meeting the water needs of the most under-served communities in California.
Convene. We connect our members to each other and potential allies throughout the state. Our work brings a variety of local, regional and statewide partners together.
Collaborate. , In this and other ways, EJCW serves as the umbrella organization for California’s water justice movement. We maintain a strong presence in Sacramento and have conducted many successful advocacy campaigns.
